What to see in Positano
Spiaggia Grande and Santa Maria Assunta
The main beach under the majolica dome of the church, where the ferries land.
The path to Fornillo
A short walk along the cliff past the Trasita tower to the smaller, quieter beach.
The lanes and stairways
Positano is vertical: steps and lanes climb from the beach through the houses; take good shoes.
How long is the ferry from Vietri to Positano?
About 70 min on board, with a change at Amalfi: Travelmar sells one ticket for the whole journey. The timetable from 1 October lists 5 departures a day from Vietri towards Positano. From June 2027 Travelmar announces new stops at Atrani and Praiano; direct summer runs may change the picture, so check the timetable for your dates.
Can you get to Positano by bus from Vietri?
Yes, all year: the SITA coastal line to Amalfi, then the Amalfi–Positano–Sorrento line. 1 h 40 on board, plus the wait at Amalfi. Positano has two stops, Chiesa Nuova at the top of the town and Sponda nearer the beach.
Is it worth driving to Positano?
No, for a day trip. The coast road beyond Amalfi is the narrowest and busiest stretch, it can be limited to alternating number plates on peak days, and parking near the beach is scarce and costly.
When is the last boat back from Positano?
In the timetable from October 1, 2026, the last sailing towards Vietri leaves Positano at 18:30, changing at Amalfi. If you miss it, the SITA bus via Amalfi runs later.
